Mice Control During Colder Months
It is the perfect time of year for the people who love seeing the Autumn leaves turning. The temperatures have been uncharacteristically high in the past few weeks, but recently we’ve seen a drop. With the change in weather here in Springfield, Missouri, unexpected guests may be finding themselves on your doorstep. They maybe already be inside. I’m talking about rodents. In this particular case I’m talking about mice. When thinking about mice control during colder months, we have to first understand mice.
Mice are starting to look at our homes as the perfect winter getaway. Mice look adorable, like our photo. Mice are rodents, and that is that. Mice are common fur-covered rodents that invade our homes. They are looking for something to eat and a place to sleep. They don’t mean us harm. But they don’t pay any rent. Unless you want mice taking up residence in your home, you will need to take precautions. We will give you tips on how to keep your home from becoming a rodent’s winter getaway.
If you have pets inside the house, make sure that the pet food is kept in sealed containers. Mice are thieves. If you feed animals outside, it would be a good decision to put the food on a plate so nothing falls through the cracks. Branches making contact with your house can help mice get in through your roof. Make sure to trim them, making an invisible barrier.
“Keeping mice from entering your house requires the simple solution of eliminating their sources for food.”
Mice are more active at night, so do as much as you can during the day to strengthen the barriers of your home. Since the weather is getting colder anyway, make sure good weather stripping seals off entry points so neither cold, nor mice, can ever get in.
